I am not an expert with oriental items, but my guess is that they are probably Japanese and not chinese (they could be Chinese, but I have never seen a set from China) Does the picture look more like a Japanese woman?
These are probably for drinking rice wine (saki in Japan, I do not know what the term is in Chinese)
The picture in the bottom is known as a lithophane -- the image is made with a mold, leaving thin spots where the image should be brightest.
Depending on age, condition, and the subject matter, these start at about $15 and go up -- risque or erotic pieces go for more.

: My mother was givin 4 chinese cups that look like shotglasses. If you hold them up and look into the light you can see a faces on the bottom. I just wondered if anyone knows what they are. They seem very old. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
